apply some of the theories and concepts you have studied to “real world”
events beyond those that have been presented in the course and make
connections between the course materials and the workings of gender in
contemporary culture. You are required to do three reflections in total. This is the first of three.
Weighting: 10% of final grade.
Length: 700–800 words in length, excluding the list of references.
Due: Upon completion of Unit 2.
Each critical reflection must be in essay form and be based on
the questions below. You are expected to directly cite and reference two
or more sources from the course materials (excluding the article, blog
post, or video you are analyzing). You are not permitted to use any external sources.
You may include personal reaction and experience but only to
illustrate or clarify your argument. Your reflection is not meant to be a
blog entry or “opinion piece.”
You are required to use the APA style of documentation.
Note: Reflections without proper use of in-text citations and a list of references may receive a failing grade.
Read the following blog and responses to it and answer the following questions:

Drawing primarily on the course
materials from Unit 2, discuss the societal pressures on parents such as
the poster to raise children as “properly” gendered. How do the replies
reinforce gender norms for children? How do they challenge them?
